Good Times with Adel Tamano (Sept. 4, 2008)
Today’s edition of Good Times had a political theme with the United Opposition’s spokesperson Adel Tamano as the show’s special guest.
If his last name is familiar, that’s because he is the son of the late senator, Mamintal “Mike” Tamano.
The young and good looking Harvard educated lawyer is also a regular listener of the show or Ka-Goodtimes, hehe…
Very articulate and obviously highly intelligent, he discoursed on a wide variety of topics including his advocacy, his role in the opposition, his work as an educator (he is PLM’s president), his religion (Islam) and his general outlook on life.
His candidness was refreshing even when faced with seemingly “tough” questions from the show’s listeners. He freely admitted that the opposition had sinned in the past and that the important thing is to move forward and learn from its past mistakes.
A number of callers wanted him to run for President in 2010 but he’s not eligible to run because of this age. The minimum age to file a candidacy for president is 40. He must have impressed a number of callers because most of the feedback was positive.
I also liked his choice for President in the US Presidential elections. He’s rooting for Barack Obama… Yeah! Go Barack!
He is indeed someone to look out for in the years to come. Definitely presidential timber…
You can check out his blog for more of his writings including the commencement speech he made when he graduated from Harvard Law School.
Now on to some good news:
My man Mo Twister is definitely looking to bring back our favorite Forbidden Questions next week! Woohoo! I’ve missed that portion of the show, it was something worth waking up early for every Wednesdays on the Good times show…
If it pushes through, I’ll definitely post the transcript here or even better, a recording of the show you can download… Watch out for it here…
I’ll blog about Tuesday’s episode of the Good Times show on Studio 23 later in the day. Check back later… It was their surfing episode in Zambales… Our man Mo got hurt on the show… ouch… I’ll share it with you later…
Till then, I’m out of here…
Good times!

I came late to office today because of the show. I was standing the whole time along EDSA, supposedly waiting for an Ayala-bound bus, but because the show was really great to listen to I let most of the Ayala-bound buses pass without me noticing. Darn…
Anyway…
Talking about Mojo’s issue with public schools (hehe!), Adel commented that he would have his kids enrolled in Ateneo or UP. Hey, where’s LA SALLE?!?! You are green yourself. Haha!
Upon arriving here in the office, I talked to my officemate who also happens to be a graduate of PLM. They were the first batch of graduates having Adel as their president. She shared that during their graduation, alot of girls made “beso” to Adel while getting their diplomas. One gay dude also made “beso” to Adel. Hmmm… The callers from PLM should’ve brought this up. Haha!
As always, GOOD TIMES!

Oh, and good humor too Adel. Was laughing my ass off about Mo’s idea on the 15-minute porn site viewing. It would be a lot scary seeing Gloria’s photo after doing your thing. Haha!
Good times!

Excellent inputs, Chi… Thanks!
Yeah, seeing GMA’s picture pop-up after the 15 minute time limit is up will surely kill any woody you may have, haha…

Adel said that those police escorts can be utilized much better by making them catch the crooks rather than escorting those politicians. Well actually they are escorting the biggest crooks in country.

Adel was not only intelligent but talented as well. He has a pretty good singing voice (who would’ve guessed huh?). What a guy!
Pinoydiscus it would be great if you could post all the Goodtimes TV show episode here!

just wanted to keep you guys updated on the happenings. today on the show, i announced that we might bring forbidden questions out of the grave one time just for ol’ time sake. so, im going to agree to do it this wed. however, this segment has gotten us into deep trouble in the past, and in the near future (likely the end of this month) i will begin serving the latter portion of a suspension i was given cuz of the variety of things that have been said during forbidden question. but no worries, i will take the time to go to italy and watch coldplay (this is your cue to get jealous).
i want to keep my promise so i contacted a celebrity to guest on forbidden questions this wed. il give you clues on who it is but i cant say it cuz i people found out they will try to contact that celeb an talk them out of it…thats how it used to be.
heres the clue: SHE was an ex of aga muhlach.

Adel is going 38 in October. In 2 years, he’s 40 and that’s 2010. There’s still a lot of possibilities he might run for President. Though he already said no.

Hi Ash,
I think the election will be held in May as usual and Adel will technically be only 39 by that date so he’s ineligible to file his candidacy…
Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it!
Good times!

Hi Mo,
First of all, thanks for giving us the head’s up on the upcoming edition of Forbidden Questions… I hope you don’t get into trouble this time!
Anyway, I posted your comment as a blog so that more readers can see it and be updated as well…
By the way, I volunteered two Alicia Keys “front row tickets” from you as part of the prize for guessing the correct guest this coming Wednesday, hehe…
Great times!

ohh, i remember this edition!
it was really fun to listen to the show for i’m an adel tamano supporter. i had a hard time getting off the car when i got to school for my 7am class that day. apparently, adel got in at 7. and there i was, parked in front of my college, contemplating whether to attend class or not. it was crucial because my cool prof was to be replaced by the dean for some reasons. my being absent on his first day might ugh, hurt his ego and my grades. LOL.
it was 7:15 when i’ve decided to rely on a coin-tossing trial. heads, i won’t go to class and spend the rest of the time in my car listening to the show. tails, i’ll go to class with an earphone on my left ear.
as i was taking out a coin, lo and behold! our dean’s car passed by my car and glanced at me. he looked at me straight in the eye! and so, ugh. i had no choice.
i went to class being unusually over-attentive and participative.
Addeeel.

Benj,
I went to the good times with mo website you gave and when I chose September 4 (and any date in September), it came out “No recordings found.”
Kindly advise me. Many thanks.

Hi Angela and Anne,
I’m really sorry but I don’t think there is a user created recording of that particular episode…
I’ll try to ask Mo if they can give us a copy and I’ll upload it later so that you can listen to it…
No promises but I’ll do my best…
Good times
